Art

Classes in Drawing and Painting online with instructor Cheryl Robbins, B.A. in Fine Arts in Painting, B.A. in Art Education. Live classes with instructor Amy Lindroth, Ringling College of Art and Design, Palm Beach State University, Santa Fe College, in addition to the Sequential Artist’s Workshop.

The Academy Art Program focuses on a traditional combination study of drawing and painting concepts, as well as application of basic to advanced art principles.  The instruction is similar to that applied in charter schools as well as college level courses, though geared to the age and background of each individual student, with emphasis on fun, process and knowledge attainable by the individual rather than graded deadlines.  Thus classes are created to stimulate the love of art through accomplishment at the level of the individual art student, and are small enough to allow the teacher to help each student reach their goals.

Enrollment is open to all students from age 9 through adults, and students may begin classes at any time during the year, as classes continue through the year with only the usual holiday breaks as stipulated on the Academy’s calendar.  Small group classes of six students or less are arranged by age, current ability and specific artistic goals.  These two-hour classes are held once per week at a specific time for each student.  Tuition for the classes is paid monthly, and the Academy’s usual “30 day notice” to withdraw from classes does apply, as classes are formulated in advance to accommodate each student.  A free observation of a class to introduce you to the teacher and methods can be arranged prior to the first paid class, and the first month’s tuition will be pro-rated if you start in the middle of a month.  Discounts are available for additional family members enrolled.  Also, there is a reduced fee for students studying both art and music.

Drawing Concepts: Includes the building of basic shapes to create form, line drawing, composition and sketching techniques with perspective and shading.

Painting: As applied to water-color and acrylics or oils, classes cover color theory, composition, perspective, brushstrokes and other application techniques, using anatomy (human and animal) and inanimate subjects appropriate for all ages.  Chinese line drawing is also explored.

The cost of classes can be found on our Fees page.
