Professional musician since age 15 in pop, rock, and jazz music. I have currently been playing in the Gainesville area for over 40 years and have had the privilege to works with Gary Langford, Frank Sullivan, Nick DeCarlis, and Cathy DeWitt. And I have performed with Buddy DiFranco, Carol Sloane, the Drifters, Carol Hahn and David Benoit.
I have studied music at the BerkLee College of Music (arranging) and as a graduate student at the University of Florida (musicology, theory, and composition). I also have an undergraduate degree in plastics technology and chemistry from Lowell Technological Institute (now the University of Massachusetts at Lowell) and a Masters degree in Science Education for the University of Florida.
I was the founder and original co-owner (with the late David Reiser) of the Gainesville Guitar Academy and owned it until 1993. Since that time I have been a chemistry and physics teacher at Keystone Heights High School (1992-1994) and at Oak Hall School (1994-2017). At Oak Hall School I was also the Musician in Residence and the Science Department Chairperson.
Since retiring from Oak Hall I have established the Browndog Group which is involved in educational consulting and tutoring and music production and recording.
