Liam Ames is a classical and jazz guitarist from Jacksonville, Florida. Under the direction of Dr. Silviu Ciulei, he is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Music Degree with an emphasis in classical guitar from the University of Florida. He is also pursuing a Minor in Jazz Studies from the University of Florida and studies jazz guitar privately with Edward White. He graduated from Douglas Anderson School of the Arts in 2024 with a focus classical guitar.
Liam has performed in numerous juried competitions throughout the region as a solo classical guitarist. He earned first prize as a solo performer in both the East Carolina University Classical Guitar Youth Competition (2023) and University of Florida Youth Guitar Competition (2024). He also placed as a semifinalist in the University of Florida Guitar Competition Open Division (2025). In 2025, Liam recorded an album with the UF Jazz Ensemble 1 at Pulp Arts Recording Studio. He also plays every Tuesday with “Jazzology” at The Bull in downtown Gainesville. Liam can also teach acoustic and rock guitar as well as bass and ukulele.
