Rebecca Pethes has a Master’s degree in Vocal Performance from Bowling Green State University and a B.A. in Music from SUNY Platttsburgh. Her musical interests have inspired her to sing in many operas, oratorios, musicals, as well as in various choirs and ensembles. Rebecca has taught lessons to a wide range of students, from pre-adolescents to retired adults. She enjoys structuring lessons according to each student’s needs and goals, while emphasizing proper technique and musical expression. She uses floor exercises, games and imagery to convey abstract concepts to younger students. Rebecca promotes a holistic approach to vocal study, encouraging regular exercise, taking care of one’s respiratory system, and overall health and well-being.
One parent of a former 13-year-old student says, “Rebecca is not only a wonderful person, she helped my daughter to develop musically. I would highly recommend her.” A parent of Rebecca’s former 9-year-old student says, “Rebecca made my daughter very comfortable and helped build up her self-esteem. She’s very caring, easygoing and open-minded.” Rebecca is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS), Early Music America and The Gainesville Music Teachers Association.
